Woman’s President Paula S. Davis
Miss Paula Davis was born in Ashland, Kentucky and grew up in rural Burlington, Ohio. Following her formal education, she moved to Pontiac in 1969 to visit and has remained in the immediate area for 48 years. As a child she was raised in the First Baptist Church of Burlington and accepted Christ and was baptized at the age of 8. She has always loved music and grew up singing in the church and acapella choir, and attending Sunday school and BTU. One of the highlights of her singing life was the opportunity to be the opening act for the late James Brown in 1967. After moving to Michigan, Paula immediately joined the Trinity Missionary Baptist Church of Pontiac and has continued to be an active member for the past 48 years where the Rev. Dr. John D. Tolbert serves as pastor. Paula serves in various ministries such as singing in the Anointed Voices choir, team-teaches the Adult Sunday school class, is a member of the Women’s Ministry Steering Committee, Culinary Ministry, and Jail Visitation Ministry just to name a few. Paula has served as the Crystal Lake Woman’s Auxiliary president, and is currently the General Recording Secretary for the Crystal Lake Missionary Baptist District Association of Pontiac. She is also the newly appointed president of the Wolverine State Missionary Baptist Convention Woman’s Auxiliary. On the national level she has served as the coordinator of the Fashion Share Outreach Project for the Woman’s Auxiliary to the National Baptist Convention USA Inc. for 21years. Paula self- published her first book titled, “Joyfully Single,” and has presented at the National Baptist Congress of Christian Education’s Singles’ Conferences, as well as, other single’s conferences. Paula is a writer for The Mission Study Guide, the official organ of the Woman’s Auxiliary to the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc., in addition to serving on the Advisory Committee. After working as an administrator with the General Motors Corporation for 31 years, Paula retired in 2008 but continues to be open to God’s direction for her life. She resides in Auburn Hills, Michigan and is blessed to be a sister, aunt, god-mother and friend. The scripture she relies on is Psalm 121 because she knows that all of her help, all she is, and all she has, comes from the Lord who never slumbers nor sleeps.
